Marshall Plan Initiative auseinander. Die Verantwortlichen des Kirchentages
erwarten, dass 50.000 der 100.000 Kirchentagsbesucher die Themenhalle
Globalisierung besuchen werden. Dort dürfen wir unser Buch an die Besucher
kostenlos verteilen.
Mit dieser Verteilung erreichen wir ein
phantastisches Publikum und unsere Initiative erhält große Aufmerksamkeit in
Deutschland.
Der Druck der Bücher wird knapp € 60.000 kosten.

In close cooperation with the agency Leagas Delaney, we have developed a
new logo for the Global Marshall Plan Initiative based on the agreed upon values
(see (o) info
03). At the German Protestant Kirchentag in Hanover in May, our Initiative
will enjoy wide public attention. On this occasion we want to introduce not only
a new logo but also a redesigned website, pins etc. This new logo was designed
to both reflect the Initiative's values and be versatile in its application.
We are pleased to present to you the Global Marshall Plan Initiative's new logo (pdf, 260
kB)
The Global Marshall Plan Initiative will participate at the German Protestant Kirchentag in Hanover from 25th-29th May, 2005. The Initiative will be represented at several panels and in addition holds a workshop. On this occasion the new corporate identity will be launched and the Global Marshall Plan network further expanded. The list of international speakers participating at the Kirchentag is impressive. Many of them contributed to the book we are publishing on the occasion of this event. The Munich Chapter of Germany's Ökologisch-Demokratische Partei (ödp,
Ecological Democratic Party) called upon the city of Munich to support a Global
Marshall Plan and to lead the way for other cities in realizing a Global
Marshall Plan. On national level the party has already been supporting the
Global Marshall Plan Initiative since 2004. So far, no decision has been taken
in Munich.

On April 12th, the European Commission has approved three Communications on
the subject of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The documents present
the European Union's joint undertakings for the MDGs progress review at the UN's
General Assembly in New York in September this year. The package makes proposals
in the areas of Finance for Development, Coherence for Development and Focus on
Africa. UN Secretary General Kofi Annan welcomed the EU's plans which correspond
to his recommendations.

In Germany, a new debate about capitalism flared up in the run up of the
regional elections in the country's most populous state North Rhine-Westfalia.
In a press release issued on April 27th, the Global Contract Foundation, the
Club of Rome, the Eco-Social Forum and the Federal Association for Business
Promotion and Foreign Trade welcome the discussion but criticize to

On April 6th and 7th promising talks with actors from civil society,
politics and the private sector took place in Athens to start a national Global
Marshall Plan team in Greece. Our new supporters in Greece are Kemel (Centre of
Greek Volunteer Top-Managers) and B.I.O. (Biopolitics International
Organisation).
If you are interested in joining the team or know people
whom we should inform about the Greek team, please contact Helge Bork.
A group of supporters of the Global Marshall Plan Initiative, among them
the church of St. Katharinen Hamburg and the Global Contract Foundation/Stiftung Weltvertrag, organized a whole
weekend with several discussion forums, a fair of local initiatives and business
and amazing music from the United World Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. The
participants as well as the visitors were impressed by the variety of
commitments for a better future. Many were encouraged by the experience that
they are not alone in fighting for a better world. This experience was therefore
made the central theme of the concluding mass. Along with reports by the local
press, the broadcasters RTL II and the NDR also reported about the event.

"We are pleased to inform you that the group "Pour un Plan Marshall Global"
("For a Global Marshall Plan") has recently been created in France, bringing
together students who wish to take part in the development of the Global
Marshall Plan Initiative. For the time being, the group is composed of three
students based in Paris, and of two others working as interns in the
Initiative's coordination office. The two major objectives of this group
include:
- presenting the Initiative to French associations, as well as to
the French public in general in order to increase awareness that actions are
necessary to reach the MDGs
- taking part in national events, such as the
'Week of Sustainable Development' and the 'Week of Fair Trade'"

Pinaud
Please get in touch with Sidonie Foltete-Paris if
you are interested in joining the group.
In the student's sections of the Global Marshall Plan website a forum and a
site with additional materials for students has been build. This forum shall be
a platform for discussions and shall support you when coordinating students'
activities as well as provide with ideas for active involvement in the
Initiative. The student team is one of the most active parts of the Global
Marshall Plan Initiative. Students from multiple European nations are actively
involved. If you'd like to get in touch with the students' coordinatiors,
contact Tobias Guller and
Raoul-Tarik Herrmann.
Please
find here the materials (German and English) and the forum.
