"World in Balance"
The book contains the speeches held at the Global Marshall Plan conference in Vienna in October 2004. Among the speakers were HRH Prince El Hassan bin Talal of Jordan, Austrian Federal President Heinz Fischer, Franz Josef Radermacher, Ernst Ulrich von Weizsäcker, Anders Wijkman. The agency Leagas Delaney Hamburg, part of the international Leagas Delaney Group, became official supporter of the Global Marshall Plan Initiative. The Hamburg office team will support the Initiative with its long experience and expertise in the field of communication. The agency, which works for clients such as Apollinaris, Goodyear, Skoda and Patek Philippe, adopted the (o) Initiative as their project for social responsibility. In seiner Rede, gehalten am 01.12. in der Festhallte der Universität Tübingen, forderte Bundespräsident Köhler die Industireländer auf, ihren Verpflichtungen gegenüber der Dritten Welt nachzukommen. Er versprach: "Ich lasse darum nicht locker in meinem Appell an die Industrieländer, auch an Deutschland, 0,7 Prozent ihres Bruttosozialprodukts für Entwicklungshilfe aufzuwenden. Dazu haben sie sich schon vor 30 Jahren verpflichtet. Zwischen Anspruch und Wirklichkeit klafft weltweit eine Lücke von fast 100 Milliarden US$ pro Jahr. Diese sind nötig, um die Millennium Development Goals zu verwirklichen."
